Ginkgo is a tree species native to China and now planted worldwide. The ginkgo tree is the last representative of the Ginkgoales, an otherwise extinct group of seed plants. The leaves of the ginkgo tree are harvested, dried and finally ground into a fine powder. The powder can be stirred into liquids such as smoothies or sprinkled over food and consumed. To prepare as a tea, pour boiling water over 1 level teaspoon per cup and let it steep for 5-10 minutes.
